The sound produced by this tuning and lay-out is something between a tiple, quatro, or tres sound. The lowered tuning makes the playability quite fluid and remarkably easier to play, including bending notes and vibrato, which are normally difficult on the mandolin. We may offer a 14" scale in standard tuning upon request. If you would like this model in standard tuning, we can cut a nut for this on request, or if you would like one up to one year after initial purchase we will provide one. Mandolin capos can be used on the 2nd. fret to make it standard tuning, but will of course make things tighter as far as playability. Limited Edition. Click image to enlarge.
